FROM  A  Lamp  To  A  City

Song Yang Lucky Circle (松陽幸運圈) 第四屆松陽鄉村振興全國建築設計大賽 Competition work: footbridge system

The Song Yang Lucky Circle is a pedestrian bridge system embedded within the old street, whose structural design not only extends the path of the street but also serves as a landscape feature of the old street. As a transportation hub, this bridge provides connections for walking, cycling, and public transit, while also becoming an important urban landscape node and vibrant space that encourages residents to engage in more community activities.

Each ring of the tree's growth symbolizes the continuous development and transformation of the city. By implanting such "growth" spaces, the original street will unfold layer by layer in a richly textured manner, creating diverse activity zones.

The "Lucky Circle" symbolizes good fortune and a positive cycle, representing the continuity of life and perpetual growth. Our original intention in designing the "Lucky Circle" was to bring a beginning of circulating good luck to Song Yang and integrate it into the lives of the residents, becoming a part of their personal or collective memories and enhancing their sense of belonging. The "Lucky Circle" can serve as a venue for community events, such as markets, performances, or festive activities, becoming a center for gathering and communication, symbolizing the unity and vitality of the community.

Just as the tree rings record the history of a tree's growth, the "Lucky Circle" carries the stories and aspirations of the community, forming a cultural heritage. Through this design, we hope to inspire a sense of participation and belonging among the residents, allowing everyone to find their place and story within this space.
